I’m buying TIPS just in case, but not sure on the inflation front. It requires wages to increase, and I don’t see how that happens. They’ve been declining for almost 10 years, with unemployment high and probably headed higher for another year it’s hard to see wages getting too far out of control.

Inflation will be a double edged sword. For everyday people costs will get driven up as their purchasing power shrinks, but for RE investors, their assets will also get driven up. It’s just a matter of whether they can weather the increased costs of everything around them long enough to take advantage of a much more prosperous RE market!

The market is bound to come around eventually and I never expected it would take anywhere near this long. I certainly hope we see some sort of turnaround soon.

And, yes, I would expect to see some real estate inflation at that time. After all, prices have already been quite a bit higher than they are now. Psychologically, it’s always easier to hit a level when you’ve been there before.
